Change

I think I’m done with changing myself to keep up with the world. Chasing changes is like trying to nail down the waves on the beach. It’s impossible and exhausting. It’s true that change is unavoidable and the only constant in life. But that doesn’t mean that I must shed my skin like onions so many times until I don’t recognise myself anymore.

Perhaps I’ve been approaching change the wrong way. Instead of forcing myself to fit into boxes, maybe I should just Be. Like a tree. A tree doesn’t stop being a tree just because the season changes. The tree adapts to situations, but it remains true to itself.

I wish to be the constant now. Immovable like a mountain on an island while the ocean waves swirl around. It’d be nice to be still and strong for once.
