Darling

The British Summertime started at the end of March. The February storm is forgotten, and London has changed from brown to pastel hues.

People took pictures under the cherry trees in celebration of springtime. I looked out for the magnolias because they reminded me of my good friend, Simon.

In the past, around this time of year, we would take a walk in the neighbourhood and pointed at the magnolia trees. “Darling, look at that tree there? Isn’t it wonderful?”

Simon was a professional photographer who taught me to enjoy the world in front of me before taking the shots.

I think of our friendship every time I see the blooming magnolia trees.
